Drone Pilot Pete (DPP) is incredibly proud and honoured to have been named a finalist in two categories at the Kingston Sustainable Business Awards 2026.

This recognition is more than an award nomination—it represents a journey of resilience, reinvention and passion.

After more than 25 years as a Qantas Captain, COVID brought my flying career to an unexpected end. Like many others, I had to reinvent myself. Combining my lifelong passion for flying, technology and photography, Drone Pilot Pete was born.

Today, DPP specialises in professional aerial and ground photography, videography and cinematic storytelling, helping businesses, builders, councils and organisations showcase their projects from a unique perspective. Every production is about more than just great footage, it's about telling the story unfolding.

Sustainability has also become a core part of the business. Through EV-powered transport, solar-supported charging, smarter flight planning and efficient production methods, DPP is committed to reducing its environmental footprint while continuing to deliver premium visual content.

Another important part of this journey has been mentoring the next generation. Passing on my knowledge, encouraging leadership and involving my children in the business has become one of the most rewarding aspects of what we do.

This finalist recognition belongs not only to Drone Pilot Pete, but also to every client who has trusted us to tell their story. Your support has helped build a business that I am incredibly proud of, and I sincerely thank each and every one of you.

I look forward to celebrating with the other outstanding finalists at the Kingston Sustainable Business Awards Gala in September and continuing to deliver professional aerial and ground film productions that showcase projects from above—and from every angle.
